Modern headlights are polycarbonate, not glass, and they leave the factory with a thin UV-resistant coating. Texas sun eats that coating. Once it fails, the plastic underneath oxidises — and that is the haze you are looking at. It is a surface problem, which is exactly why it can be fixed rather than replaced.
How we do it
Mask the surrounding paint, wet sand through progressively finer grits to take the oxidised layer off evenly, then machine polish back to clarity. The step that matters most is the last one: a fresh UV sealant. Without it you are handing the sun bare polycarbonate, and it will be yellow again by next summer.
Why the kits disappoint
Most over-the-counter kits are a compound and a cloth. They make a lens look better for a few months because they remove the oxidation without replacing the protection. Then the haze comes back, usually worse, because the surface is now bare. That is the whole difference.
When restoration is not the answer
If the lens is cracked, or the housing has moisture inside it, or the damage is on the inner surface, polishing the outside will not help. We will tell you that when we look, rather than after you have paid.

How long does it last?
Ours are finished with a UV sealant, which is what determines longevity. Expect a couple of years in Texas sun. A restoration that is polished but not sealed will yellow again within months — that is why cheap kits disappoint.
Restore, or just replace the headlights?
Restoration is $65 per pair. A single replacement housing on a modern car is often several hundred dollars, sometimes over a thousand once there is a projector and a control module in it. Unless the lens is cracked or the housing has moisture in it, restoration is the sensible first step.
Does clouding actually affect anything?
Yes. A hazed lens scatters the beam instead of projecting it, so you lose real distance at night. It is also a common inspection failure point.
Can you do it at my house?
Yes. This is mobile work across Marble Falls, Horseshoe Bay, Burnet, Kingsland, Spicewood and the Lake Travis area. Our rig carries its own water and plugs into a standard outlet for power.
